Expedition Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Srinagar Local

Arrive at Srinagar Airport. Our representative will pick you up and transfer you to a Deluxe Houseboat/Hotel. After freshening up, proceed for a half-day local sightseeing tour. Visit the famous Mughal Gardens (Nishat & Shalimar). In the evening, enjoy a 1-hour Shikara Ride on Dal Lake. Dinner & Overnight stay in Srinagar.

Day 2: Srinagar to Kargil (204 KM)

Start early (7 AM) to beat the traffic at Sonamarg. Begin the ascent to the mighty Zoji La Pass (11,575 ft). Enter the Ladakh region at Drass, the second coldest inhabited place in the world. Visit the Kargil War Memorial at Drass to pay homage to the heroes of 1999. Reach Kargil by evening. Dinner & Overnight stay in Kargil.

Day 3: Kargil to Leh (216 KM)

After breakfast, drive towards Leh. Cross Namki La and Fotu La passes. Visit the ancient Lamayuru Monastery and witness the unique "Moonland" landscape. Stop at Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and the Hall of Fame museum before entering Leh city. Drop at your hotel in Leh. Tour Ends.

When does the Srinagar-Leh highway open?
The highway (NH1) usually opens in late April or early May and remains open until mid-November, depending on snowfall at Zoji La Pass.
Is this route better than Manali-Leh?
Yes, for acclimatization. The ascent from Srinagar (5,200 ft) to Leh (11,500 ft) is gradual over 2 days, reducing the risk of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) significantly compared to the Manali route.
Can we do this trip in 2 Days?
It is possible to drive from Srinagar to Leh in 1 long day (12-14 hours) or 2 days with a stop in Kargil. However, this 3-day itinerary allows you to enjoy Srinagar local sightseeing before starting the journey.
